Maintenance-free. Self-lubricating. Durable.

Self-lubricating composite sliding bearing material: deva.bm®

deva.bm® is a metallic composite material consisting of a steel strip as a supporting backing and a sintered-on, self-lubricating bronze sliding layer. The solid lubricant (graphite or PTFE) dispersed in the sliding layer under preload enables the sliding bearing to be used without the need for maintenance.

The maintenance-free and self-lubricating material is available in different alloy variants and material thicknesses. The two-layer material structure enables the implementation of compact and highly resilient sliding bearing concepts that function reliably.

The percentage content of solid lubricant as well as its particle form and distribution vary depending on the alloy.

deva.bm Kalotte

The advantages of deva.bm®

  • Electrically conductive without electrostatic charging effects
  • High static and dynamic loading capacity
  • Can be used in radioactive environments
  • Suitable for dry operation and also medium-lubricated applications

For different requirements, we choose between four different microstructures and additionally offer further features, e.g., type of steel backing, sliding layer with and without oil impregnation, surface structure, and additional solid lubricant deposits.

deva.bm® 302 Summary

In the group of deva.bm® materials with a low graphite content, deva.bm® 302 is the typical standard material. It is characterized by a smooth sliding layer with running-in treatment (black) and stainless steel backing (1.4301).

deva.bm® 302 Available options
Smooth sliding layer without running-in treatment
deva.bm Option

Description

The sliding surface is not coated with running-in film

Technical characteristics

Without running-in film, the coefficient of friction in the running-in phase is similar to or slightly higher than in the steady-state operating phase

Applications

  • Dry operation
  • Oil- and water-lubricated applications
  • Short frictional distances
With oil impregnation
deva.bm Option

Description

The residual pores of the sintered material are additionally impregnated with oil

Technical characteristics

  • The oil impregnation leads to an improvement in the coefficient of friction and wear as long as the quantity of oil present in the pores is sufficient.
  • The operating temperature is limited to max. 80 °C.

Applications

  • Oil-lubricated systems
  • Applications with high sliding speeds
Alternative supporting backings
deva.bm option alternative

Description

Alternative supporting backings for different environmental conditions

Technical characteristics

  • 1.0338 (standard steel)
  • 1.4301 (standard stainless steel)
  • 1.4571 with higher corrosion resistance (e.g., for offshore)
  • Bronze (CuSn6)

Applications

Depending on the ambient medium and its influence on material corrosion.

Sliding layer with grooves
deva.bm option ridges

Description

The sliding layer has a groove system. Groove depth: Max. down to the supporting backing

Technical characteristics

  • Cleaning grooves
  • Lubrication grooves

Applications

  • Dusty environment
  • Contaminated water
  • Additional lubrication
Sliding layer with dimples
deva.bm Option

Description

The surface is equipped with small, dome-shaped recesses ("dimples") as lubricant reservoirs

Technical characteristics

  • Increase in the permissible dyn. load up to 150 MPa
  • Higher pU value permissible with grease lubrication
  • Longer service life with grease lubrication

Applications

  • The reservoirs offer a longer service life for grease- and oil-lubricated applications.
Dimples filled with dg32
deva.bm Option

Description

The dome-shaped recesses ("dimples") are filled with dg32, a hardening solid lubricant. Plus running-in film

Technical characteristics

  • Increase in the permissible dyn. load up to 150 MPa
  • Higher pU value permissible in dry operation
  • Longer service life than comparable base material without dg32

Applications

  • High dynamic loads
  • For increasing the service life compared to base material without dg32
